ADAM WITH Ryron Gracie

Adam Wright, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu 1 Stripe Brown Belt

Adam is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt with over 15 years in martial arts.  His journey started the same way many other martial artists do, watching Bruce Lee.  With years of study in Karate, Adam earned his Blackbelt in 2010 and continued his study eventually earning his first degree blackbelt in 2011.  A fellow Karate student mentioned he was going to a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Seminar in Indiana and he thought he would tag along.  Growing up in Coldwater, MI Adam was keenly aware of the Gracie Family through the exposure of the UFC.

The seminar was hosted by Chet Schemahorn featuring Ryron Gracie.  After a short time of instruction it was obvious Adam was hooked and had to learn the Art of Gracie Jiu Jitsu.  While continuing to cross train, Adam took private lessons with Chet.  After a few classes, Chet suggested Adam attends the LaGrange Gracie Jiu-Jitsu School.  Immediately Adam was submersed in a whole new level and style of combat. With Chet’s understanding, ability to teach and passion for the art Adam began to have success on the mat and even mores in life.  He then decided to dedicate his martial arts study to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Earning a blue belt in 2011, Adam continued to train as much as possible at the LaGrange School location.

Training along side Chet and the other students, the desire to know more continued to drive Adam to also seek the details.  As a smaller Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, the ability to understand the art on a very deep and technical level became apparent.  Adam began to train as much as his schedule would allow and he would partner with higher ranking students to achieve the most technical style he could.  Chet planted the mentality of Helio Gracie in Adam’s mind very early on and it settled in his heart.  As a smaller and lighter martial artist, the Helio Gracie style of Self Defense was a perfect fit. The dedication to the art was recognized with a Purple Belt in October off 2018.  This was a very special promotion for Adam.  At the beginning of his journey, the Purple Belt seemed light years away; to further add credence to the belt promotion was that it was given to Adam at a Ryron Gracie Seminar by Chet and Ryron.

2018 was big year for the Jiu-Jitsu resume Adam strived to build. He was invited to the Jiu-Jitsu Lifestyle Summit allowing him to spend a week in California with some of the best and most amazing Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the world set Adam on a new course with a life purpose.  Learn and share the most amazing martial art Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In 2019, Adam graduated from the Instructor Certification Program.  He began as an assistant instructor to Chet.  As his confidence grew, Adam began teaching the kids classes as well as Gracie Combatives in LaGrange.  Soon, his role grew as his passion for teaching began to flourish and his confidence grew.

In 2021, Adam began his Instructor path full time splitting time between the schools.  With his continuously growing love and passion for the art the students, Adam added Gracie Survival Tactics to his Gracie Jiu-Jitsu resume.  After spending a full week of training with Gracie University GST Team, Adam completed the GST Course.
